SNH Recommendation · 4 August 2026
This is a network-performance HQ role wearing a regional title — Operations Planning, KPI/FSU monitoring and performance management across Air India's ~100+ India stations, seated in Mumbai. The ₹33L budget is competitive for airline and cargo-terminal talent, but a stretch for MNC forwarder and integrator national-ops profiles (₹35–45L band). We recommend leading with Pool A (airline cargo HQ & hub ops — IndiGo CarGo, SpiceXpress, Blue Dart Aviation, foreign-carrier India cargo teams) and Pool B (cargo terminal / GHA station leadership at CSMIA, AISATS, Çelebi, WFS), with forwarders used selectively where comp expectations are pre-qualified. First longlist of 5–7 profiles is deliverable by tomorrow morning if calling starts today.

Priority Profile Archetypes — what we are calling for today
A
Archetype A — Airline Cargo HQ / Hub Performance Manager
IndiGo CarGo · SpiceXpress · Blue Dart Aviation · foreign-carrier India cargo orgs
1
Context
10–14 yrs in airline cargo; currently Manager/Sr Manager in network ops, hub control or cargo performance at an Indian carrier or a foreign carrier's India cargo organisation. Mumbai or open to Mumbai.
2
Experience
Multi-station ops oversight, FSU/KPI-driven performance reviews, GHA/SLA management, budget & manpower planning — the closest one-to-one match to the JD's accountabilities.
3
Sell story
Air India is the only Indian carrier building intercontinental widebody belly capacity at scale (300% capacity growth planned on 470-aircraft order book). HQ-adjacent role with network-wide remit — a step up from single-hub scope.
4
Risks & notes
IndiGo CarGo retention bonuses reported post-freighter scale-up; foreign-carrier profiles may hold expat-linked benefits hard to match at ₹33L. Probe current fixed comp early.
B
Archetype B — Cargo Terminal / GHA Station Head (West)
CSMIA cargo (Adani) · AISATS · Çelebi · WFS · Menzies · Bird Group · Cargo Service Center
1
Context
Runs a cargo terminal or multi-airline GHA station at BOM/AMD/PNQ/GOI. Deep ground-handling, DG/pharma handling, customs & compliance exposure — often under-titled and under-paid vs airline peers.
2
Experience
Daily station KPIs, ramp/warehouse SLAs, regulatory audits (BCAS, customs), irregularity management — maps directly to the JD's station-visit, safety and documentation-compliance accountabilities.
3
Sell story
Move from service-provider side to airline principal side; ₹33L is typically a 20–40% jump on terminal-operator comp at this level. Tata brand + network scope is a strong pull.
4
Risks & notes
Client may perceive GHA profiles as "execution not planning." Pre-empt by shortlisting only those with multi-station or regional remits. Confirm acceptability with Richa (see Decisions tab, Q2).
C
Archetype C — MNC Forwarder / Integrator Airfreight Gateway Ops Lead
DHL GF · K+N · DB Schenker · DSV · Expeditors · FedEx · UPS · Allcargo · TVS SCS
1
Context
National or West-gateway airfreight operations lead at an MNC forwarder or integrator, BOM-based. Strong process, carrier-management and P&L discipline; JD explicitly allows forwarding background.
2
Experience
Capacity procurement, gateway consolidation ops, service recovery, customer-facing escalation management — brings shipper/forwarder lens Air India Cargo says it wants as it digitises sales (cargo.one, Jul 2026).
3
Sell story
Airline principal role at India's fastest-transforming carrier; breadth of 100+ stations vs single gateway. Works best for forwarder talent currently at ₹26–32L looking for platform scale, not for ₹40L+ national heads.
4
Risks & notes
Highest comp-drop risk pool. Screen fixed CTC before pitching. Avoid integrator district managers on sales-weighted plans — variable comp inflates expectations.
Next 24 hours — execution sequence
1) Rejo initiates calling on Pools A & B today (target 15–20 conversations). 2) Naukri/IIMJobs/LinkedIn sweep with cargo-ops boolean strings tonight. 3) Send Richa 2–3 "market-check" profiles by EOD today to show motion, full 5–7 profile longlist by 10:30 tomorrow. 4) Raise the four clarification questions (Decisions tab) in the same mail — signals rigour without delaying delivery.
Compensation read · Cargo Operations · 10–15 yrs
₹33L fixed sits at the 75th–90th percentile for airline & terminal-operator cargo ops talent at this experience band — we can hire well here. It sits at the 45th–60th percentile for MNC forwarder / integrator national-ops leaders, where senior profiles cluster ₹35–45L. Position the budget as a ceiling for Pool C, and as an upgrade story for Pools A & B.
All comp figures are SNH directional estimates from recent search activity and public salary data; to be validated against live candidates. Not client-shareable without cleanup.

Supply geography — where this talent sits
| City | Depth | Notes for this search |
|---|---|---|
| Mumbai ★ | Deep | India's #2 cargo gateway (CSMIA). Airline West-region cargo teams, all MNC forwarder gateways, terminal operators. No relocation friction — prioritise. |
| Delhi NCR | Deepest | Largest airline-HQ cargo talent pool (IndiGo, SpiceXpress, foreign carriers' India HQs, Çelebi/AISATS DEL). Needs relocation — historically acceptable for airline ops talent; confirm with client. |
| Bengaluru / Hyderabad / Chennai | Moderate | AISATS BLR, Menzies, GMR/GHIAL cargo, forwarder gateways. Relocation required. |
| Ahmedabad / Pune / Goa (West region) | Thin at Sr level | Station-manager depth, limited HQ-planning exposure — better as future station hires than for this role. |

Four decisions that shape the shortlist · send with first profiles
Ask these in the same mail as the first profiles — rigour without delay. Each question changes who we call tomorrow.
Question 01 · Comp construct
Is ₹33L the fixed ceiling, or total CTC including variable? Any flex to ₹35–36L for an exceptional integrator/forwarder profile?
The best-fit senior forwarder/integrator profiles cluster ₹35–45L. A 10% flex roughly doubles the addressable senior pool.
SNH position: Proceed assuming ₹33L fixed ceiling; hold two stretch profiles in reserve rather than anchoring the client upward on Day 1.
Question 02 · Background acceptability
Are cargo terminal / GHA leadership profiles (CSMIA, AISATS, Çelebi, WFS) acceptable alongside airline and forwarder backgrounds?
This pool is the fastest to close inside budget and maps tightly to the station-oversight half of the JD — but the mandate mail named only "Airlines/Freight Forwarding."
SNH position: Include one strong GHA profile in the first longlist as a test balloon, framed around multi-station performance remit.
Question 03 · Location & relocation
Mumbai-based candidates only, or is relocation (chiefly Delhi NCR, where airline cargo talent is deepest) acceptable? Any relocation support?
Restricting to Mumbai roughly halves the airline-HQ pool; Delhi NCR holds the largest concentration of network-cargo ops talent.
SNH position: Source Mumbai-first for the 24-hour list; open NCR relocators from Day 2 unless the client vetoes relocation.
Question 04 · Process & speed
Interview panel, number of rounds and target closure date? Can a panel slot be pre-blocked this week given the "critical" flag?
A 24-hour sourcing sprint is wasted if interviews lag 3 weeks — cargo ops candidates at this level typically hold 30–90 day notice periods and multiple conversations.
SNH position: Propose: profiles 5 Aug AM → feedback within 48h → first panel round w/c 10 Aug. Ask notice-period ceiling and buyout appetite now.
Air India · company intelligence · why this role exists now
Air India is mid-way through the most aggressive airline rebuild in aviation history — and cargo is the under-built function. A belly-only cargo business riding a 470-aircraft order book, targeting ~300% cargo capacity growth in five years, has just moved sales digital (cargo.one, Jul 2026) and now needs HQ-grade operations planning and performance management over 100+ India stations. This SM hire is transformation infrastructure, not replacement hiring — and it will not be the last cargo mandate.

| Dimension | Detail |
|---|---|
| Ownership | Tata Sons (majority) with Singapore Airlines 25.1% post Vistara merger, completed 12 Nov 2024 |
| Transformation | Vihaan.AI — Taxi and Take-off phases done; currently in "Climb" phase: fleet retrofit, network expansion, ops excellence, culture rebuild |
| Financials | FY25 revenue ~$7B (↑11%); still loss-making (~$1.2B FY25 incl. exceptional/merger items) — cost discipline runs through every function, which explains the tight ₹33L budget |
| Cargo leadership | Ramesh Mamidala, Head of Cargo (ex-Cargolux/Qatar background; digital-forward agenda). Hiring contact: Richa Arora, Manager–TA, Gurugram (Vatika One on One) |
| Cargo model | Belly-cargo only across widebody/narrowbody network; hubs Delhi · Mumbai · Bengaluru; ~100+ India stations per JD; key lanes to EU, North America, APAC |
| Cargo digital | cargo.one partnership (Jul 2026) — first direct digital booking integration; strategic shift to digital sales; ops must now keep pace with digitally-sold capacity |
What this means for the search
1 · Performance-culture fit beats legacy pedigree. The JD's language (KPIs, FSUs, failure reviews, HQ oversight) is new-Air-India vocabulary — candidates from measurement-driven ops cultures (IndiGo, integrators, MNC GHAs) will interview better than legacy-carrier profiles.
2 · The role is a wedge. Cargo is scaling into a multi-role hiring wave (regional ops heads, cargo digital, freighter ops if/when announced). Servicing this ₹33L role fast positions SNH for the C-level and regional mandates that follow — same logic that worked on the Purplle platform.
3 · Two D&T mandates arrived the same day (57–62L, Gurgaon — see D&T tab). Richa is consolidating vendors who respond fast. Speed on this role compounds across the account.

India air cargo · market landscape · Aug 2026
India is the world's fastest-growing large air cargo market: ~3.9M tonnes handled capacity and a national target of 10M tonnes by 2030. Every serious player — carriers, terminals, forwarders — is hiring cargo ops leadership, which means our candidates hold competing options and counteroffers are the default, not the exception.

After Delhi; pharma, engineering, e-comm led
Competitive set — who else is building cargo ops muscle
| Player | Cargo posture 2026 | Talent implication |
|---|---|---|
| IndiGo CarGo | Freighters + massive belly network; aggressive international push | Primary poaching source and primary counter-offer threat |
| Blue Dart / DHL | Dedicated freighter network, express integration | Deep ops bench; comp mid-band — approachable |
| SpiceXpress | Freighter operator; financially stressed parent | Motivated talent, often comp-compressed — good value pool |
| Adani / GMR airports | Cargo terminal capex, new transhipment capacity | Terminal leadership pool growing; also competing for same hires |
| Foreign carriers (EK/QR/CX/TK) | Expanding India lift on e-comm & pharma flows | Polished ops talent in BOM/DEL; some inside ₹33L |

Richa sent two Digital & Technology roles the same day — C2 (Chief Manager) level, Gurgaon, ₹57–62 LPA incl. 20% performance bonus. Owners: Pinkal + Harshad. Different talent market, same account-velocity logic: fast motion here compounds trust from the cargo sprint.
SA

Lead architecture team; strategic tech decisions for ops-tech ecosystem. Client note: "candidates specific to Operations Technology or who have architected Airport Ops tech apps."
2

3
Target pools

4
Watch-outs
Generic enterprise architects without airport/airline domain will be rejected on screen — the ops-tech filter is explicit. AODB, BHS, PSS, ramp-tech vocabulary is the screen test.
FS
Airport System Development — Full Stack Tech Lead
C2 · Chief Manager · Gurgaon · ₹57–62L (incl. 20% PB)
1
Mandate
Full-stack lead building AI-infused digital products (personalization, chatbots, intelligent automation) — prototype to production ownership.
2
Must-haves
Angular/React/TypeScript front-end; Java-Spring Boot and/or Python back-end; BFF patterns; AI service integration in production; team guidance.
3
Target pools
Airline/airport product engineering (IndiGo, Air Arabia tech, InterGlobe Technologies/IGT, IBS, Navitaire/Amadeus dev centres, Sabre GCC) + product companies with airport-systems delivery.
4
Watch-outs
"Full-stack lead" is a commodity title — the airport-systems filter is the differentiator. Screen for AODB/DCS/kiosk/baggage/turnaround-app work, not airline websites alone.
